The plays that changed the lead

Texas opened the scoring on Arch Manning’s 41-yard touchdown pass to Cam Coleman. A blocked-punt touchdown recovered by Dakoda Fields brought Oklahoma level in the second quarter. Manning then found Ryan Wingo for a 34-yard score, and Gianni Spetic’s 23-yard field goal made it 17-7 before halftime.

Sandell’s 53-yard field goal cut the deficit to seven in the third quarter. Lloyd Avant’s two-yard touchdown run tied the game early in the fourth, before Peyton Bowen returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown to put OU ahead 24-17.

Manning answered with a 75-yard touchdown drive, finishing with a 15-yard pass to Jermaine Bishop Jr. that tied it at 24 with 6:32 remaining. Oklahoma’s last possession covered 31 yards in 19 seconds and ended with Sandell’s winner. The Sooners needed the final play despite their fourth-quarter surge.

Texas outgained Oklahoma 382-238, including a 260-155 advantage through the air. Those totals measure offensive movement; they do not include the value of OU’s blocked-punt touchdown and pick-six. The two non-offensive touchdowns explain how Oklahoma won despite gaining 144 fewer yards.

For Manning, three touchdown passes and the late tying drive belong alongside the two interceptions. The updated Manning analysis separates his passing production from the turnovers rather than treating either as the whole performance.

The Golden Hat changes hands

Texas had won the 2024 and 2025 meetings. Oklahoma’s victory ended that two-game streak and returned the trophy to the Sooners. The result also means the last four annual Dallas meetings, 2023 through 2026, are split two wins apiece.
