Super Weekend: Texas Lands No. 1 WR Cam Coleman, Flips Hollywood Smothers
AUSTIN — If there was any doubt about Steve Sarkisian’s ability to reload, this weekend erased it. The Texas Longhorns have secured a massive influx of talent, highlighted by the commitment of Cam Coleman, the No. 1 wide receiver in the transfer portal.
Coleman to Austin
Coleman, the former Auburn standout, brings elite size and playmaking ability to an offense tailored for explosive receivers. His addition gives quarterbacks Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning a true WR1 weapon for the 2026 campaign.
RB Room Rebuilt
The running back crisis has been addressed with authority. Texas flipped Hollywood Smothers from his commitment to Alabama, a major recruiting win over a conference rival. Additionally, versatile back Raleek Brown (Arizona State) has joined the fold, adding speed and pass-catching ability to the backfield.
Defensive Reinforcements & Retention
The defense also got stronger with commitments from linebackers Rasheem Biles (Pitt) and Justin Cryer (Florida State). Perhaps just as important as the new arrivals is the news that cornerback Kobe Black has withdrawn his name from the transfer portal and will return to Texas for the 2026 season.
Meanwhile, former running back CJ Baxter has announced his transfer to Kentucky, and WR Jaime Ffrench is headed to Michigan.
